Confined Space Awareness <7152> + Confined Space Entry Level II <8231>.

Confined Space Awareness

This 1 day program is designed for utility operators required to work in and around confined spaces. The session provides a review of confined space entry programs & procedures as listed in the WCB Regulations, as well as a demonstration of equipment and personal protective equipment. Agenda items include:

  •         Definitions - To Comprehend CS terminology
  •         General Requirements & Responsibilities - Understanding the basic requirements & responsibilities of a CS Program
  •         CS Identification & Hazard Assessments - How to inventory CS & procedures for hazard assessments
  •         Lockout & Isolation - Requirements & application of lockout & isolation procedures
  •         Verification, Testing & Isolation - How to properly monitor, record & reduce atmospheric hazards
  •         Standby Personnel & Rescue - Understanding standby responsibilities & Rescue procedures
  •         Fall Protection & Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) - Requirements for and use of equipment and PPE
  •         CS Program Implementation & Manual - How to implement or update a CS Program

 

Confined Space Entry Level II

(Prerequisite: Confined Space Awareness)

This (1) day course provides proper procedures & practical exercise’s for students to safely enter a confined space using standard CS entry techniques & equipment with an additional component utilizing specialized techniques for simultaneous multiple worker entries. Topics Include:

  •          Regulations & Responsibilities - a review of OHS regulations & responsibilities,
  •          Hazards & Precautions - understanding hazards and learning precautions to eliminate,
  •          Inspection and Review of Equipment and PPE - reviewing function and operation of confined space entry equipment
  •          Knots, Rope and Specialized Equipment - Learn and demonstrate constructing a rope system for multiple worker entry
  •          Pre-Plan (Workers and Task)-  to Develop and organize a task plan
  •          Preparing Personnel for Entry / Inspection - understanding procedures and how to inspect equipment prior to use
  •          Preparing the Space for Entry - Learn how to set up equipment and prepare the space / area for entry
  •          Entry into a Confined Space - learning and demonstrating safe enter of a confined space
  •          Exiting a Confined Space - learn and demonstrate safe exit of a confined space
  •    .   Man-down Non-Entry Rescue Procedure - learn non-entry extraction techniques
  •        Post Entry Procedures

 

The course also provides a non-entry rescue exercise.
