FAST Tracking ItemsOverviewTracking items are used in FAST for a variety of scenarios. For instance, when a letter is generated and printed for an account, a tracking item is created under the "Tracking" tab (see image below). The date on the letter (current date or post-dated date specified) will be recorded in that tracking item along with the type of tracking item. In this example, the type of the tracking item will correspond to the type of letter generated. The image below shows a tracking item of type "Introduction Letter Sent" because the Cross-Connection Introduction Letter was generated and printed for that account. Default Tracking ItemsThe are default tracking items that are already available during the initial installation of FAST. These are the most commonly used tracking items for a cross-connection control program. The main tracking items correspond to each of the letters and survey assessment reports that are available. Custom Tracking ItemsTo increase the flexibility of the software, tracking items are fully customizable. This means that even the default tracking items can be changed to suit your needs. This also makes it possible to add your own custom tracking items. These can be used for anything, and when used in conjunction with custom reminders (see "How to: Custom Reminders") you can set a reminder to pop up based on that custom tracking item. Modifying Existing Tracking ItemsTo edit, or modify, an existing tracking item, right-click the mouse pointer in the tracking window and select "New". This will load the list of tracking items. Select the existing tracking item and click on "Modify". You will now be able to edit the name of that tracking item. Click on "OK" to save the changes. Creating New Tracking ItemsIf you find a need to create a new tracking item, the process is very similar to editing an existing tracking item. Open the list of tracking items, and instead of selecting an existing tracking item, click on "Add New...". Enter a name for the tracking item and then click on "OK" to save it to the list. Final ThoughtsTracking items are a highly customizable way to record events related to all aspects of a cross-connection control program whether it be recording when a letter was sent to a customer or when a BFP will need to be retested, tracking items will allow for easier and more efficient management of the entire CCC program. Used with custom reminders the appropriate tracking items will automatically be presented to you when first open FAST or at defined intervals.
