TitleRemapping the HotSync Conduit

How to remap FAST

Mapping information is used to coordinate the synchronization process between a Palm-based handheld and the desktop PC. This information is essential for successful HotSyncs and can solve some errors related to synchronizing. Also, when a new version of our software product becomes available it may also be necessary to remap the HotSync conduit as changes to the database structure can occur. Following these steps will remap the HotSync conduit.

  1. Ensure the HotSync icon is visible in the system tray. Click on the HotSync icon and select "Custom".

  2. Choose "HanDBase 3.0" and select "Change...".

  3. Select "Sync Exchange".

  4. Select each of the follow databases shown in the picture below. Click on "Delete" to remove the mapping for each database.

  5. Click "OK", "OK", "Done" to close the windows and save your changes.

  6. Open FAST and select "Tools" -> "Options".

  7. Once the Options screen is shown, select "Synchronization".

  8. Select the handheld user that you want to remap. Click on "Auto-Map User...". The next message will indicate if the mapping was successful

At this point you have remapped the HotSync conduit. Try HotSyncing and check for any errors.
